5 thrift stores in hong kong that you need to see this summer
no time to read? — jump to summary here
hong kong is definitely a city that is known for its' shopping — from the bustling mall in causeway bay to the iconic night market streets. what it's not quite known for, however, is our vast selection of second-hand shops. check out my top 5 thrift stores in hong kong here (p.s. there are also videos on my youtube channel if you'd prefer to watch instead!)
1. mee & gee
mee & gee is most known for its' never-ending 'sea' of clothes. if you're looking to get squished in between racks, this is the place for you! jokes aside, this store does have A LOT of variety.
from cute sweater vests to trendy floral shirts, you're bound to find something you love here. personally, i love going during the weekdays with a tiny bag and headphones to keep me in the zone!
2. green ladies
this second-hand store is so unique and takes an amazing approach to thrifting. each time you pick up a clothing item, you'll notice a tag telling you how many tonnes of waste you would be saving by purchasing second-hand! (p.s. if you're looking for affordable baby clothes this summer, this is the spot.)
3. redress closet
the redress closet is one of the newer thrift stores that i've found in hong kong.
their store in sham shui po is beautifully
designed and has a bonus seating area for all the people that have been dragged along to shop!
the selection for both men and women is vast and you're bound to find something you love there. they also do quarterly pop-ups in hong kong that have the most amazing sales and collections, so do keep an eye out for that.
4. midwest vintage
what would you rather buy?
vintage levis jeans
vintage leather jacket
vintage michael jackson tshirt
midwest vintage is an 'all-american' thrift store. they have curated pieces including old band tees (yes, all my one direction fans - this is the spot), and also their original in-house clothing projects (refurbished denim items). their upstairs sale section has the best deals in finding your favorite vintage levis, cozy sweaters and taylor swift tshirts!
5. salvation army family store
this was the first ever second-hand store that i found, so it's extra special to me. the salvation army family stores are the most convenient thrift stores in hong kong. with multiple branches in walking distance, it makes shopping more fun and easy. as it says in the name, the stores have everything for everyone. need a blender? they have it. need cute clothes? they have it. need vintage vinyls? they have it. an all-around store for affordable finds!
